Behavioral Health Clinic

Bagosendan

“The Great Spirit did not put our people on this island so we could suffer. We are here to live and to learn by our mistakes. To be sober is to live and learn and this is good.”

 -Mille Lacs Ojibwa Elder, 1981

The St. Croix Tribal Behavioral Health Clinic is a fully licensed mental health/AODA clinic in the state of Wisconsin and is bound and operated, under all rules, regulations, and statutes of that licensure.

Individualized Alcohol and Drug Outpatient Treatment

With addiction, every person’s situation is different. In designing your treatment plan, a multidisciplinary treatment team will consider multiple variables and work with you to address your needs, including:

  • Physical health
  • Mental health
  • Family relationships
  • Substances used
  • Gender
  • Court orders

Understanding these differences is important in developing the best possible addiction treatment plan-with whatever therapies, services, and medications are needed-to help you get well and stay well. Core treatment activities include:

  • Individual therapy
  • Educational lectures
  • Group therapy
  • Family therapy

Integrated Mental Health Care

Life stressors, biological factors, and chronic conditions can cause or exacerbate mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, or bi-polar across the lifespan. Each treatment team member is qualified to provide therapeutic services for mental health needs.

In addition, more often than not, addiction comes with complicating factors, such as mental health issues related to anxiety, trauma, or depression. We take an integrated approach to recovery, addressing co-occurring addiction and mental health issues at the same time. Services and resources include:

  • Mental health assessments
  • Individual therapy
  • Psychiatric consultation
  • Group therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Medication management

As such, our interdisciplinary care teams consist of fully licensed addiction counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, nutritionists, and wellness specialists supervised by psychologist, clinical supervisor, and medical director.

Our clinic understands that addiction and mental health issues affect not only the patient but their family as well. To help with the healing process, we provide and encourage family therapy, where patients and family members receive education, guidance, and support for lifelong recovery for the patient and family system. Our Ojibwe culture does not stress the individual separate from the whole, and our therapeutic approaches are a blend of contemporary evidence-based practices merged with the experience of culturally competent, Ojibwe dual-diagnosis licensed therapists.
